Supporting Response Efforts in Granbury, TX & Moore, OK
The following is an announcement from our Northern Texas - Northern Louisiana Mission Area of the ELCA on how the congregations on our Mission Area can help support disaster response efforts in towns affected by the recent tornados, especially Granbury, Texas and Moore, Oklahoma:
Dear Fellow NT-NL Workers in God's Kingdom:
As we all know, over the past two weeks we have seen disastrous tornados in our region: Granbury, Texas and Moore, Oklahoma. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families affected by these storms. We often hear "What can I do to help?"
As members of the ELCA we take heart that we are already on the scene, helping through the ELCA’s Lutheran Disaster Response Fund (LDR). LDR is able to send 100% of all designated disaster donations to directly support people affected by natural disasters like the ones in Granbury and Moore because ongoing administrative support is provided through our regular mission support to the ELCA. We are also aware that LDR remains on the scene for a long time, even after most other emergency responders have moved on. Lutheran Disaster Response stays in order to provide the aid needed to help people return to normal lives. LDR is recognized as one of the best disaster responders in the United States and around the world.”
